February 20 Meeting

RAPS last week started off with some serious competition!  We battled out with cup stacking, Oreo eating, and fun with pennies "Minute to Win It " style.  Check out the @VandyRaps Instagram for some great photos!
The 5th and 6th graders put on their directors' hats, and analyzed parts of the books they chose, looking for nonnegotiable moments they would want to see in the movie version of their book.  We feel very passionately about some of these characters, but took some time to think about why a director might change a character.  The kids went home with the charge of reading half of their book, and continuing to take notes on their nonnegotiatbles.  We will watch part of the movies during our March 12 meeting!
In the 7th and 8th grade group, we worked through several rotations. We got to know each other a little better and have some experience with interviewing each other. The writing group continued writing and working towards our multimedia story. The story development group worked on editing and adding filters and sound effects to the footage from our interviews in iMovie. Finally, we searched through our new book, I Kill the Mockingbird, to look for quotes that stood out to us.

We are looking forward to seeing you on March 12!
