November 1 Meeting

Since Halloween was the day before, we decided to have a spooky themed RAPS on Saturday. We began with a Halloween version of the game "Would You Rather?" You can only imagine the interesting conversations this activity sparked.

Next, we read a 3:15 story by Patrick Carman, the author of the Skeleton Creek series. The story had 3 parts (listening, reading, and watching) and took about 15 minutes to complete. We then began our spooky stations. Students rotated through 5 stations: a spooky read aloud station, an independent reading station, an art station where they created sugar skulls and discussed the Day of the Dead, a science station where they did a STEM activity using toothpicks and pumpkin candies, and a writing station where they wrote two sentence horror stories and published them using iPads. Here are a few pictures from our morning.
