Reading Aloud Valuable for Middle School Kids

Great article on the value of real aloud to middle school students. "For Trelease, the power of shared words is a big reason to keep on reading aloud after children are able to read for themselves. Students might interject questions, comfortably wading into complicated or difficult subjects because they are happening to the characters in the story, and not to themselves." -Holly Korbey

May 3 Meeting

We had our last meeting of the school year on May 3. It was a bittersweet day! We will miss our RAPS students so much. Thankfully many of them will be joining us for our summer camp in June!

We began our morning by drawing peace dragons with Linda Ragsdale. Click here to view her website. Linda also shared an incredibly moving story about her experience in the Mumbai bombings. We were so inspired by Linda's story, and we had a wonderful time learning how to draw dragons!

We then went outside to play one last time, before parents came to join us for lunch. We viewed a multimedia presentation of our #whatsyourstory project while we ate. We have so many fun memories from this year, and we hope to maintain relationships with all of the wonderful families we've gotten to know.

Have a great summer, everyone!
